Simpson loses to SOU for second time this season
Simpson University Sports News
REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s basketball team hosted the Southern Oregon University Raiders on Monday, Dec. 2, and lost 81-59. This was Red Hawks’ second loss to Southern Oregon for this season. Simpson opened their season against the Raiders on the road and lost 128-95.
In the first half, the Red Hawks came out slow and lacked energy. The Raiders went on an 8-0 run with 16 minutes left before Simpson's head coach Jim Holcomb called his first timeout. A quick field goal from Jonnie Washburn right after the timeout started Red Hawks on their own run. The Red Hawks got within three of the Raiders with some clutch free throws by Tyler Imhoff and a shot from Dalton Thacker. Southern Oregon answered back and enlarged their lead to 43-29 going into halftime.
In the second half, the Red Hawks came within 10 points of the Raiders, but the hole was too big Simpson to close. Southern Oregon defeated the Red Hawks 81-59.
The Red Hawks will look to bounce back as they host Master’s College on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
