SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Red Hawks men's soccer team was in action on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the Bay Area against the Urban Knights from the Academy of Art University. The Urban Knights were up to the task of handing the Red Hawks a 6-0 loss.
The Urban Knights were all over the Red Hawks early in the game, but Red Hawk senior goalkeeper Justin Webb kept his team in the game by making six saves. When it seemed that the Red Hawks had weathered the storm, the Urban Knights found a breakthrough in the 41st minute, when Frederik Nagel got behind the Red Hawk defense and scored off his 1-on-1 opportunity. The Urban Knight didn't take their foot off the gas and doubled their lead in the final minute of the half, when Nagel finished another opportunity off an assist by Aron Ekberg. The Red Hawks were out-shot in the half 21 to 1.
The Urban Knights added four goals in the second half, including goals from Jesus Sanchez in the 57th minute, Ekberg in the 58th minute, Lennart Fleschhut in the 70th minute and Jonmundu Gretarsson in the 90th minute to seal their 6-0 victory.
The Red Hawks will now travel to Southern California to take on La Sierra University Golden Eagles at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.
