Simpson University Sports News
ROCKLIN, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s soccer team was in action on Saturday, Oct. 26, when they took on conference rival William Jessup. It was a closely contested match, but the Warriors were able to pull out the 1-0 victory in the last moments of the game.
In the first half, the Red Hawks created several chances, including Jordan Daigre’s shot which hit the post in the 17th minute and Efrain Solorzano's shot that was saved by Warrior goal keeper Zach Kammer in the 25th minute. Red Hawks goal keeper Justin Webb had six saves in the half and the teams took a 0-0 scoreline into the break.
In the second half, the Warriors took control but some solid defending and outstanding goalkeeping from Webb kept the Red Hawks in the game. In the 88th minute the Warriors got the breakthrough they were looking for when Christian Soria's cross was turned into the net by Daigre, who was back trying to defend the shot. There was no time for the Red Hawks to recover and the Warriors held on to win 1-0.
The Red Hawks will now look forward to hosting the Menlo College Oaks on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. Menlo won 3-1 when the teams met earlier this season on Saturday, Oct. 12.
