DES MOINES, Iowa. - Friday, March 1 was a successful night session of day one of the 56th Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships, with all three Red Hawks winning all six of their combined matches.

The night started in the 165 point weight class with Red Hawk freshman Brady Beamon taking on Nick Hutcheson, a junior from Dakota Wesleyan University. Beamon dominated the match-up, defeating Hutcheson 9-0.

The win then set up a match-up between Beamon and Dallas Houchins, a freshman representing the Vikings from Grand View University. Again, Beamon wasted no time, as he was able to pin Houchins at 2:57.

Beamon will now head into the final day of competition with a match-up against Oklahoma City University freshman Zach Skates.

In the 141 weight class, Red Hawk Anthony Vega took on Nick Schroeder, a sophomore from Midland University. This was a tough match-up for Vega, but he was able to hand Schroeder a 2-1 defeat on decision.

Vega then went on to the next round against Garret Lambrecht, a sophomore from Morningside College. Again the match went to decision, as Vega was able to hand the Mustang sophomore a 7-1 loss.

Sophomore Chris Hart from Wayland Baptist University will compete against Vega in the next round held on day two of the tournament.

Finally, Austin Lobsinger was able to make quick work of both of his opponents on the night. First up was Tyler Kacmarynski, a junior from Morningside College, who Lobsinger was able to pin at 2:07. Next came a match against Luis Contreras, a junior from Missouri Baptist University. Lobsinger pinned Contreras at 2:34 and advanced to the next round.

Up next for Lobsinger will be Sears Tiernan, a senior from Great Falls University. Earlier this season Lobsinger faced Tiernan in a duel in Redding on November 15 and lost on a 5-2 decision.
