Simpson Player of the Week: Audrey Green
Simpson University Sports News
Redding, Calif. - In the start of Audrey Green’s sophomore season, she has accomplished a consistent statistical record. In the seven games the Simpson University women’s volleyball team has played, Green has led the team in kills, with an average of 3.7 kills a game and a total of 84. Green is ranked 34th in the nation in kills per game with 3.650. In the game against Oregon Institute of Technology on Wednesday, Aug. 28, Green had a season-high of 20 kills.
The 2013 volleyball season marks Green’s sixth season playing competitive volleyball. Her first club coach was Theresa Williamson, and she taught Green fundamentals and started her fire to love the game. In high school, Green had to choose between water polo and volleyball and chose volleyball because her mom played.
“My favorite part of volleyball is knowing that you can never know everything about volleyball,” said Green. “You can always become a better player. Every day I still learn something new, and I feel like all true athletes admire that about their sport.”
