Simpson loses game one of Paul Elliot Invitational to Warriors

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Simpson University women’s volleyball team (0-3 overall) played its first game at the Paul Elliot Invitational hosted by Southern Oregon University against the Warriors from Lewis-Clark State College (1-3) at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29. The Red Hawks lost the match in three straight sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-17).

In the first set, both teams committed numerous errors. The Warriors finished the set with a 25-18 victory and a total of 14 kills. Simpson ended the set with eight kills. In the second set, Simpson held a lead, but it slipped away and Lewis-Clark won 25-16. The Red Hawks once again struggled with errors, committing nine to the Warriors’ seven. The final set came quickly, and the Warriors won 25-17.

Audrey Green led Simpson with seven kills; Jamie Pickett had five kills. Jazmin Wallace led the team in digs with eight.

The Red Hawks look to bounce back later today against Southern Oregon University at 2:30 p.m.
