Red Hawks lose to Golden Eagles for second time this season

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s volleyball team traveled to Riverside, Calif., to play the Golden Eagles of La Sierra University. The Red Hawks lost the game in three straight sets (14-25, 19-25, 20-25).

The Golden Eagles took advantage of the Red Hawks’ slow start in the first set by going on an eight-point run. La Sierra led by as many as 12 and was able to cruise to a 14-25 victory.

In the second and third sets, the Red Hawks gave La Sierra more of a battle, losing 19-25 and 20-25. The difference in games was shown in the amount of errors committed by each team. Simpson had eight errors in the second set and six in the third compared to La Sierra’s two errors per set.

Red Hawk sophomore Audrey Green had a game-high 19 kills. Kelly Tycksen led with 27 assists, and Jamie Pickett led with 10 digs.

The Red Hawks will look to bounce back as they head to Prescott, Ariz., to play Embry-Riddle University on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
