Simpson loses to Oaks on the road

ATHERTON, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s volleyball team traveled to Atherton, Calif., to play Menlo College on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Red Hawks lost the game in three straight sets (23-25, 27-29, 28-30).

Both teams produced almost identical statistics, as the Red Hawks only lost each set by two points. Simpson had six errors in each set, and Menlo had five in the first set, seven in the second, and eight in the third. Both teams had four players in double digits in digs, and the Red Hawks had 10 team blocks compared to Menlo’s seven.

In an article from the Menlo College website, Coach Atlee Hubbard is quoted as saying, "I have to give Simpson credit because their defense was outstanding tonight against our outside hitters. We changed some things up and were able to take the match. They played a good game especially in front of a big crowd on senior night."

Audrey Green led the Red Hawks with 19 kills, and Kelly Tycksen had 31 assists and 18 digs.

The Red Hawks will prepare for their next game on Friday, Nov. 8. They play their final home game of the season against Embry-Riddle University at 7 p.m. Simpson won in four sets the first time these teams met on Saturday, Oct. 19.
