Simpson loses final game of Paul Elliot Invitational to Northwest

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Simpson University women’s volleyball team played their final game in the Paul Elliot Invitational hosted by Southern Oregon University against Northwest University at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. The Eagles defeated the Red Hawks in four sets (22-25, 25-9, 25-23, 25-12).

The Red Hawks came out strong and won the first set 25-22. Both teams had four errors, but the difference came in the kill total. The Red Hawks finished the set with 15 kills compared to the Eagles’ 12. In the second set, the Eagles quickly won 25-9. The Red Hawks finished the set with five kills and seven errors, and the Eagles finished with 13 kills and three errors. The third set ended with an Eagles 25-23 victory. Both teams had 13 kills apiece, but the error difference was the deciding factor. Northwest had eight errors compared to Simpson’s six. The Eagles won the final set 25-12.

Audrey Green led the Red Hawks with 18 kills, and Kelly Tycksen led the team with 15 digs.

The women’s volleyball team has a 0-6 record and will look to get their first win at home Sunday, September 1 at 4 p.m. against Northwest Christian University.
