Red Hawks lose to host of Paul Elliot Invitational

ASHLAND, Ore. - The Simpson University women’s volleyball team (0-4 overall) played Paul Elliot Invitational host Southern Oregon University on Thursday, Aug. 29. The Red Hawks lost the game in three straight sets (25-11, 25-17, 25-20).

The first set ended with a 25-11 Raider victory. The point differential was in the kill total, as Southern Oregon had 16 and the Red Hawks finished the set with five. The second set was closer than the first, but the Red Hawks fell short, losing 25-17. The deciding factor was the error count. Southern Oregon had four to Simpson’s nine. The final set was a closer match-up, but the Raiders still came away with the 25-20 victory.

Audrey Green and Jamie Pickett had good all-around games. Green led the team with 11 kills, and Pickett had nine. Both also had a team-leading nine digs each.

The Red Hawks will continue to work on team chemistry as they face Northwest University at the Paul Elliot Invitational on Friday, Aug. 30.
