REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University's women's basketball team is playing the Pacific Union Pioneers on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in round one of the California Pacific Conference Tournament. Simpson is the No. 3 seed, and Pacific Union is the No. 6 seed.

Tiffany Aaserude had 19 points, and Katie Ratfield had 12 points for the Red Hawks as they won by double figures. Alexandra Santanello had a game high 21 points, and Alejandra Gallardo had 18 points for the Pioneers. Pacific Union had a 54-48 rebounding advantage over Simpson. Nichole Jones had seven points and three players had five apiece for Simpson. Simpson had 12 more steals than did Pacific Union.

Simpson outscored Pacific Union 48-27 in the second half for the 21 point victory. Madison Cox and Jones had 14 points apiece for the Red Hawks. Santanello had a double-double with a game high 27 points and 12 rebounds for the Pioneers. Pacific Union out-rebounded Simpson 39-30. Aaserude had 12 points and Sarah Quantz had nine points for the Red Hawks. Emily Assavapisitkul had 12 points for the Pioneers, who made six more free throws than the Red Hawks.
