Jones, Aaserude, Cox earn all-conference honors

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University women’s basketball team placed three players on the 2013 California Pacific all-conference team, which was announced on Wednesday, Feb. 20, by Commissioner Don Ott. Juniors Nichole Jones and Tiffany Aaserude were named to the first team, and freshman Madison Cox was named to the second team.

Menlo, who won the conference's regular season championship with an unblemished 10-0 record in conference play, headlined the honor list with senior Lauren Adamek and sophomores Jolise Limcacoand Laurel Donnenwirth. William Jessup also had three players named to the first team in juniors Taylor Borba, Sara Petersen and Ashley Rose. Simpson added Aaserude and Jones to the first team. Both CSU Maritime Academy and UC Merced added one player to the first team. The Keelhaulers' junior Javier Brantley and the Golden Bobcats' Shelby Howard both made the team.

Menlo won three individual awards. The Oaks’ head coach Shannon Osborne was named coach of the year for the second consecutive year in an unanimous vote. Jolise Limcaco was the unanimous choice for Player of the Year, and Laurel Donnenwirth was named Defender of the Year. Sara Peterson of William Jessup won Newcomer of the Year, and Shelby Howard of UC Merced won Freshman of the Year.

Commissioner Don Ott said about this year's all-conference team: "These student-athletes have competed and succeeded at a high level, leading their teams and the conference to continued growth. With individuals like these, the future of the Cal Pac continues to look brighter and brighter. I congratulate them on this well-earned accomplishment."
