Simpson goes 2-0 on Oregon road trip with win over Concordia

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Simpson University women’s basketball team won their second game in a row on the road against Concordia University on Sunday, Nov. 10. The Lady Red Hawks defeated the Cavaliers 81-75.
In the first half, the Red Hawks found themselves behind early, as Caitlyn McCutcheon scored six quick points for the Cavaliers. Corban led 13-3, but the Red Hawks clawed their way to a 33-32 lead with a 3-pointer by Kaity Hahn. Simpson was down by five with seconds remaining in the half, when Esther Wofford drove toward the basket and got fouled. She made both free throws to bring the Red Hawks within three (43-40) at the halftime break.
In the second half, the Red Hawks and the Cavaliers tied three times; the final occurrence being 71-71 with 2:21 left in the game. The Red Hawks secured an 81-75 road win by making 8-of-10 free throws in the final two minutes.
Simpson will travel to Klamath Falls, Ore., to compete against Oregon Institute of Technology on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
