Simpson loses to San Diego Christian on day two of Hoops Classic

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s basketball team competed against the San Diego Christian College Hawks on day two of the TCSA/DAP Hoops Classic on Sunday, Nov. 24. Simpson lost 71-55.

The Red Hawks struggled offensively in the first half, shooting 30% from the field goal and 27% from the 3-point line. The Hawks shot 44% from both. Simpson found themselves down 31-25 at halftime.

In the second half, the Red Hawks slowly started to lose control of the game, as San Diego Christian continued to find gaps in their 3-2 zone defense. Having to foul toward the end to stop the clock as often as possible, the Red Hawks were defeated by the Hawks’ free throw shooting and lost 71-55.

Simpson was led offensively by Tiffany Aaserude, who had 12 points. She had help from Esther Wofford and Nichole Jones, who each had11 points.

The Red Hawks are preparing for their Oregon road trip against Northwest Christian University on Tuesday, Nov. 26 and Pacific University on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Red Hawks lost 77-65 to Northwest Christian when they teams played in Redding on Wednesday, Nov. 6. This will be the first match of the season between the Red Hawks and Pacific University.
