Simpson University Sports News

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s basketball team hosted the Northwest Christian University Beacons on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Red Hawks lost 77-65.

The Red Hawks started strong, and baskets from Kaity Hahn and Kaite Ratfield gave Simpson a four-point lead in the first minute of the game. The Beacons fought back, gained a 6-4 lead and began to pull away. Successful offensive attacks from point guard Bianca Padilla kept Simpson in the game, and the Red Hawks went into halftime only down 35-30.

In the second half, Simpson began to chip slowly away at Northwest Christian’s lead, getting as close as seven points (62-69). The Beacons capitalized on Simpson’s foul trouble by making their free throws and ended the game with a victory of 77-65.

The Red Hawks were led offensively by Padilla and Karley Menez, who had 10 points each. Defensively, Tiffany Aaserude led with five steals.

Simpson is preparing for their first road trip of the season. They are travelling to Portland, Ore., to play against Concordia University and Warner Pacific University on November 9-10.
