ANGWIN, Calif. - The Red Hawks women's basketball team was in action on Thursday, Jan. 24, when they traveled to take on the Pioneers from Pacific Union College. It was a close, hard-fought game, and the Red Hawks were able to secure a 10-point victory (66-56).

Both team struggled for the field and converted just over 30 percent of their shots. Perhaps the most telling stat in the game was turnovers. The Red Hawks turned the ball over just 10 times compared to the 23 turnovers committed by the Pioneers. Simpson scored 24 points off turnovers; the Pioneers only scored five points off turnovers.

Tiffany Aaserude led the Red Hawks with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists. Katie Ratfield was also in double figures with 12 points. She also had four steals and three steals.

The Pioneers were led by the outstanding play from Alexandra Santanello, who had 21 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Next up for the Red Hawks is another road trip. This time they travel to Vallejo, Calif., to take on the Keelhaulers from CSU Maritime at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25.
