Red Hawks cruise past PUC in Cal Pac quarterfinals

REDDING, Calif. - The No. 3 Lady Red Hawks were in action on Wednesday, Feb. 20, when they hosted the No. 6 Pioneers from Pacific Union College in the first round of the Cal Pac Championships. The Red Hawks cruised to a 74-41 victory.
The Red Hawks took a 40-18 lead into the half time break. They were led by some stellar play from senior Kaila Smith and freshman Madison Cox. In the second half, the Red Hawks out-scored the Pioneers 34-23 in the half.
Smith led all scorers in this one with 21 points, as she went 10-of-11 from the field and made her only free throw attempt and grabbed four steals. Cox added 14 points and five rebounds, with Kaity Hahn and Nicole Jones both adding 10 points each. Jones also had six steals.
Alejandra Gallardo led the Pioneers with 18 points.
The win sends the Red Hawks into semi-finals to take on the No. 2 Warriors from William Jessup University on Saturday, Feb. 23, in Rocklin, Calif. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
