Lady Red Hawks start 2013 with loss to San Diego Christian

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Red Hawks women's basketball team kicked off the new year with a trip to Southern California to take on the Hawks from San Diego Christian at the Ryan Athletic Center on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. San Diego Christian handed the Red Hawks a 65-52 loss.

San Diego Christian started the game on a 20-5 run and never relinquished control of the game. Their lead grew to as many as 17 points, when they led 38-21 with 1:14 to play in the first half. They finished the game with a 13-point victory (65-52).

San Diego Christian was led by Brittany Daniel, who had 28 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in the win. Chardonnay Shula added 12 points.

Nichole Jones led the Red Hawks with 20 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Tiffany Aaserude added 13 points.

The Red Hawks continue their Southern California road trip by taking on CSU San Marcos on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
