Simpson loses NAIA West Regional Tournament to Concordia-Irvine

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women's softball team took on No. 1 Concordia University-Irvine in the championship game of the NAIA West Regional tournament on Saturday, April 27. The Red Hawks lost 3-0.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, when Concordia-Irvine scored all three of their runs. Emily Craig and Annett Merjano hit back-to-back solo home runs to center field to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Bryana Simpson scored the final run of the inning and of the game off a Caitrin Debaun single up the middle. With this win, the Eagles advance to the NAIA National Tournament.
Red Hawk senior Hayley Rodriguez got the loss. She gave up four hits and three runs. Concordia's Katie Cotta threw her ninth no-hitter of the season.
Up next for the Red Hawks is hosting California Baptist University in the NCCAA Qualifying Tournament on Thursday, May 2, at 1 p.m.
