Simpson shut out by Cal State San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Simpson University women's softball team continued their lengthy road trip to Southern California on Tuesday, March 26, in a doubleheader against the Cougars from CSU San Marcos. The Cougars swept the two-game series 2-0 and 4-0.

In game one, Red Hawks pitcher Katie Bell took on Courtney Allen for the Cougars. The Cougars scored twice in the first inning and held onto that lead for the rest the game, winning 2-0. Bell got the loss, allowing one earned run on four hits in six innings work. Allen earned the win, giving up zero runs on six hits in seven innings.

In game two, the Red Hawks sent Emily Stokes to pitch against Cougar starter Katie Wilkinson. The Cougars again scored in the first inning. They scored three times in the first and once in the second to take a 4-0 lead. The Cougars maintained their lead, as the Red Hawks again struggled to get any offense going. Wilkinson earned the win for the Cougars, allowing no runs on five hits in seven innings. Stokes got hit with a lost, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and two innings of work.
