Lady Red Hawks Win Second Straight Cal Pac Title

FRESNO, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s cross-country team won its second straight California Pacific Conference title on Nov. 3. The Red Hawks will compete at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Nationals in Lawrence, Kan., on Nov. 22.

The Lady Red Hawks were led by senior Jaclyn Van Schooten, who finished in second place with a time of 19:9.5. Junior Holly Pebles finished sixth, with a time of 20:08.2. Sophomore Karissa Scheuermann finished 10th, with a time of 20:33.3. Senior Molly Finn came in 14th, with a time of 20.57.2. Sophomore Hannah Schmidt placed 15th, with a time of 21:05.2. Juniors Summer Holloway and Ellyn Hilts finished 26th and 27th, respectively.

Van Schooten and Pebles received first team all-conference honors. Scheuermann and Finn were named to second team.

The men’s cross-country team placed third out of seven teams at the California Pacific Conference Cross Country Championships. Embry-Riddle (AZ) won the men’s championship. Red Hawk senior Tony Moore received first team all-conference honors and qualified for the NAIA Nationals as an individual runner. Junior Tony Meredith received second team all-conference honors.
