Red Hawks fall to Cavaliers

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men's baseball team hosted the Concordia University Cavaliers on Sunday, March 23 at 11 p.m. and 2 p.m. resulting in a 19-1 loss and a 7-2 loss.
In the first game, the Cavaliers took an early 6-0 lead before Luke Tessman scored the Red Hawks’ only run off Daniel Mill’s single in the second inning. With four errors from the Red Hawks, Concordia continued to capitalize on mistakes and scored 19 runs, winning 19-1.
Humberto Solorio earned the loss for the Red Hawks with six earned runs and 18 at bats. Mills led the team with one RBI.
In the second game, the Red Hawks were the first to score, when Jody Robertson scored on a balk, giving Simpson a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Cavaliers answered back in sixth inning by scoring three runs and taking the lead. Simpson scored one more run while Concordia scored four more runs, resulting in a 7-2 Cavaliers’ victory.
Walker Gemmill and Jody Robertson each scored for the Red Hawks. Ryan Lombardo received the loss with 26 at bats, five strikeouts, and three earned runs.
Simpson will prepare for their next series at College of Idaho University on Saturday, March 29 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
