Red Hawks lose conference opener

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men's baseball team hosted a doubleheader against the Corban University Warriors on Friday, March 7 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The Red Hawks lost game one 3-0 and game two 9-0.

In the first game, Simpson head coach Travis Fortner strategized the game by assigning certain pitchers per inning. Cameron Imhoff started the game, Ryan Lombardi pitched fourth through sixth innings, and Alex Lee finished the game. Both teams remained scoreless until the sixth inning. The Warriors, adjusting to the new pitching routine, found their groove and hit a run in each inning till the game ended resulting in a 3-0 loss for the Red Hawks.

Elden Whisman led all players with 15 putouts, and Daniel Mills led with five assists. Harold Adams went 4-for-5 at the plate, and Lee received the loss.

In the second game, Simpson struggled to get a hit. The Warriors scored one run in the third inning, four runs in the seventh, three runs in the eighth inning, and one in the ninth to win 9-0.

Mills earned the only hit for the Red Hawks, going 1-for-4. Walker Gemmill led with seven putouts, and Humberto Solorio received the loss with three strikeouts and one earned run.
