Red Hawks fall to No. 2 Lewis-Clark State

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men's baseball team hosted the No. 2 Lewis-Clark State College Warriors on Saturday, April 12 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. resulting in 14-0 and 9-4 losses for the Red Hawks.
In the first game, the Red Hawks struggled to score a run and only got four hits against the Warriors’ star pitcher to lose 14-0.
Ryan Lombardi went 2-for-3 from the plate, hitting two of Simpson’s four hits. Garrett Greenhaw received the loss with 31 at bats, one strikeout, and eight earned runs. Justin Hedberg finished the game with seven at bats, one strikeout, and five earned runs.
In the second game, the Warriors were the first on the scoreboard, but the Red Hawks answered back with a stolen base from Harold Adams to the game at 1-1. In the fourth inning, the Warriors put up two more runs, and Simpson answered back with one run, when Dylan Mumford scored off Lombardi’s single to left field, to bring the score to 3-2. Lombardi scored off a Warriors’ bobble in the seventh inning to tie the game at 3-3. However, Lewis-Clark State found momentum and scored six runs in the last two innings, with Simpson only answering with one, to win 9-4.
Lombardi went 3-for-4 from the plate with one RBI. Kurtis Huffman and Elden Whisman also earned one RBI each. Joshua Gilmore received the loss with 39 at bats, five strikeouts, and seven earned runs. Humberto Solorio finished the game with two at bats, one strikeout, and no earned runs.
The Red Hawks will the Warriors on Sunday, April 13 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in their final home series of the season.
