Red Hawks lose double header to Oaks

MENLO PARK, Calif. - The Simpson University men's baseball team traveled to Menlo Park, Calif., to compete against the Menlo College Oaks on Friday, April 4 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. resulting in a 7-0 loss and a 12-2 loss.
In game one, the Red Hawks struggled to get a run, let alone a hit, in Menlo’s 7-0 no hitter. Garrett Greenhaw received the loss with 37 at bats, two strikeouts, and seven earned runs.
In game two, the Oaks quickly scored two runs in the first inning. The Red Hawks answered back in the third inning by scoring two runs of their own. Ryan Lombardi singled to the middle to bring Daniel Mills home. Lombardi scored the second point on a pitcher’s bobble, to tie the game at 2-2. Simpson scored their only 2 points in third inning, while Menlo scored 10 more runs to win 12-2.
Lombardi earned the only RBI for the Red Hawks, had five putouts at first base, and went 2-for-3 from the plate. Joshua Gilmore received the loss with 17 at bats, two strikeouts, and six earned runs. Humberto Solorio finished pitching with 13 at bats, two strikeouts, and two earned runs.
Simpson will play another series against the Oaks on Saturday April 5 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
