Red Hawks lose doubleheader to Owls

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Simpson University men's baseball team traveled to Klamath Falls, Ore., to compete in a doubleheader against the Oregon Institute of Technology Owls on Saturday, March 15. The Red Hawks lost game one 8-0 and game two 8-1.
In the first game, the Owls scored two runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the fourth inning and one in the fifth inning to win the game 8-0. Daniel Mills led Simpson with four assists, and Elden Whisman had with seven putouts. The Red Hawks’ best batting average came from Joshua Gilmore, who was perfect at the plate. Ryan Lombardi received the loss for Simpson, facing nine batters and giving up four earned runs with one strikeout. Garrett Greenhaw followed with 19 at bats, three strikeouts, and four earned runs. Gilmore finished the game with two strikeouts and eight at bats.
In the second game, the Owls attacked offensively and took an 8-0 lead. The only run from the Red Hawks came from Jody Robertson, who scored an unearned on an OIT error in the eighth inning, ending the game 8-1.
Mills went 2-for-4 at the plate, with two putouts and three assists. Cameron Imhoff received the loss with 14 at bats, two strikeouts, and one earned run. Humberto Solorio followed with three at bats, one strikeout, and no earned runs. Alex Lee pitched 13 at bats and allowed seven earned runs, and Harold Adams rounded out the Red Hawks pitching rotation with three at bats and no earned runs.
