Simpson Player of the Week: Ryan Lombardi

Ryan Lombardi has proven he is one of the most versatile players on the Simpson University men’s baseball team. A transfer from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Lombardi has become successful in every baseball category.

As a senior, Lombardi has started in 23 of Simpson’s 30 games, playing pitcher, center fielder, left fielder, and first baseman. Lombardi leads the team with 13 RBIs and an average of .43. He also leads the team in batting average with 23 total hits and a .329 average.

On April 12, Lombardi batted 2-for-3 from the plate, hitting two of Simpson’s four hits, in the team’s 14-0 loss against Lewis-Clark State. In the second game of the series, he batted 3-for-4 with one RBI. He also scored the run that tied the game at 3-3 in the Red Hawks’ 9-4 loss against the Warriors.
