Simpson University Sports News

03.31.2014

Ryan Lombardi has proven he is becoming one of the most versatile players on the Simpson University men’s baseball team. A transfer from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Lombardi has become successful in every category of baseball.

As a senior, Lombardi has started in 17 of Simpson’s 24 games, playing pitcher, center fielder, left fielder, and third baseman.

This past week Lombardi batted .500 (2-for-4) from the plate in the 3-0 loss to College of Idaho. He also batted 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the Red Hawks’ 6-4 loss to College of Idaho.

“Throughout all of the adversity thrown our way this season, I couldn't be more blessed to be playing with my brothers,” he said. “I'm just happy I was finally given a chance by the coaches to be an everyday guy and put into a situation to help my team be successful. This season isn't over yet and I believe we are on the verge of turning the page and finishing the season on a good note. I feel blessed to be receiving this award.”
