Red Hawks participate in Warner Pacific Spring Shootout

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Simpson University men’s and women’s golf teams traveled to Portland, Ore., to compete in the Warner Pacific Spring Shootout hosted by Warner Pacific College on March 22-23.
The men’s golf team finished in second place overall out of the three participating teams, which included Warner Pacific College and Concordia University-Portland. As a team, the Red Hawks shot a 307 in round one and a 315 in round two to finish with invitational with a score of 622.
Nick Maddalena finished first for the Red Hawks tying at second place with three other participants with a score of 152. Marcus Mezzano placed sixth (153), Nick Norgaard finished seventh (154), and Lucas Vaughn finished in 12th place (163).
For the women’s golf team, Christina Phelps finished first for the Red Hawks by tying for second place with one other participant with a score of 169. Serina Castillo placed sixth (175), and Katie Miller placed seventh (181).
Simpson’s next match-up will be the Northwest Christian Invitational on April 7-8 in Eugene, Ore.
