Valles, Beamon, and Lobsinger earn NAIA All-American honors

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University’s men’s wrestling team participated in the 57th annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships on March 7-8 at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, Kan. According to the NAIA athletics page, 210 qualifiers from across the United States participated in the two-day, four-session event.

With 38 teams participating, Simpson finished tied for 13th overall with a team score of 30.5. The top 12 teams ahead of the Red Hawks consisted of schools nationally ranked, with the winning team being Grand View with a team score of 175.5 points. This was Grand View’s third consecutive national title.

AJ Valles, who competed in the 133 weight class, was seeded ninth and finished eighth overall, earning NAIA All-American honors with a season record of 25-8. Brady Beamon, who competed in the 174 weight class, was seeded 13th and finished in fifth place overall, earning All-American honors for the second year in a row with an overall season of 24-6. Austin Lobsinger, who competed in the 285 weight class, was seeded 13th and finished sixth overall, earning All-American honors for the second year in a row with an overall season record of 21-6.
