Red Hawks Earn First Win Over New Hope

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Simpson University women’s volleyball team defeated New Hope Christian College in three straight sets (25-17,25-11,25-16) to earn their first win of the season.

The Red Hawks and Deacons played evenly in the beginning of the first set and were tied at 10 before Simpson went on a nine-point rally to take a 19-12 lead. The Red Hawks sealed the victory by going on a 6-3 rally to win set one 25-17.

In set two, the Red Hawks took full control of the set with an early 13-5 lead. With the Red Hawk leading 16-5, the Deacons went on a 5-1 rally and closed the gap to seven (17-10). But the Red Hawks finished the set with an 8-1 rally to win 25-11.

In the final set, Simpson again dominated early and took a 15-9 lead, but the Deacons brought the game within one (15-14). The Red Hawks finished the set by going on a 10-2 rally to win 25-16 and earn their first victory of the season.

Sophomore Aimee Belleville led the Red Hawks with nine kills, and freshman Ashley Cervantes had with 15 assists and nine digs.
