Red Hawks fall to Golden Eagles

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s basketball team hosted the Golden Eagles of La Sierra University on Saturday, Feb. 8th at 6:00 p.m. resulting in a 76-64 loss.

In the first half the Red Hawks started out sluggish with four turnovers occurring in the first two minutes. A 3-pointer from Tiffany Aaserude, helped the Red Hawks tie the Golden Eagles 8-8 with 14 minutes left to play.

After a media timeout, the Red Hawks would find their rhythm and lead by as many as 11 points before going into halftime up 36-32.

Coming out of the halftime, Simpson would maintain the lead until the ten minute mark. Tying the game at 52 with ten minutes left to play; La Sierra would shortly take the lead and keep it for the remainder of the game, winning 76-64.

Esther Wofford led offensively with 17 points and 5 assists. Tiffany Aaserude was close behind with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Simpson will prepare for their next conference game against CSU Maritime on Thursday, Feb. 13th at 5:30 p.m.
