Simpson University Sports News

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s basketball team advanced to the California Pacific Conference playoffs after beating CSU Maritime 85-73 on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m.

The Red Hawks started the game down by four points, as the Keelhaulers attacked the paint strong. However, after baskets from Madison Cox and Kaity Hahn, the Red Hawks gained the lead and kept it for the remainder of the half. By pushing the ball in transition to wear out the Keelhaulers, Simpson went into halftime ahead 44-35.

In the second half, Maritime immediately fouled Hahn and scored within the first minute of the game. The Red Hawks led by as many as 16 points and Maritime came within four before losing 73-85.

Karley Menez led offensively with 14 points and six rebounds. Hahn finished with 13 points; Tiffany Aaserude had 11 and Nichole Jones finished with 10 points and four steals.

Simpson will prepare for their final home game of the season against Pacific Union College on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m.
