REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s basketball team hosted the Pacific Union College Pioneers for senior night on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 6:30 p.m. The Red Hawks finished out the regular season with a 55-49 win.

The game started slowly, as both teams scored less than 10 points for the first 10 minutes of the half. With Nichole Jones leading the offensive with seven points, the Red Hawks would go into halftime ahead 26-21.

In the second half, Simpson began to pull away but the Pioneers stayed close. With big shots from seniors Tiffany Aaserude and Kaity Hahn and big minutes from Kayla Shubin, the Red Hawks finished the night with a 55-49 win.

Hahn and Aaserude both finished the night with 13 points.

The Red Hawks said their farewells to Katie Ratfield, Ashley Bell, manager Emily Suryan, Nichole Jones, Tiffany Aaserude and Kaity Hahn. After walking with their families and loved ones, the seniors were wooed by their Coach Derrick Pringle, Jr. and three other teammates in a Cheetah Girls music video/dance.

Jones, Hahn, and Aaserude have been in the Simpson University women’s program for four years with Pringle and all the seniors will be greatly missed.

Simpson will have two weeks to prepare for playoffs. They will travel to face No. 1 Menlo College on Saturday, March 1.
