REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women's soccer team played their first late-night match of the season against the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech at the Redding Soccer Park on Sept. 9. The Lady Red Hawks lost 3-1.

The Lady Red Hawks, who usually play afternoon games, struggled to adjust to the 7 p.m. kickoff. Six minutes into the first half, Oregon Tech's Cody White capitalized on the late start and scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Amanda Hisey. Twenty-three minutes into the game, the Red Hawks tied the game at 1-1, when freshman Brook Gaddy scored off junior Leah O'Halloran’s assist. The Hustlin' Owls countered with a goal from Chrishtinna Newell five minutes later to give OIT a 2-1 lead heading into half time.

The second half was a pretty even match until Oregon Tech's White scored her second goal of the night to give the Hustlin’ Owls a 3-1 lead and seal their victory.

Gaddy was a highlight for the Red Hawks, as she scored her first career goal. Sophomore Tayler Lennier allowed three goals and recorded five saves.

The Red Hawks will return to action by hosting rival William Jessup University at 2 p.m. on Sept. 12.
