Red Hawks dominate Oaks

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women's softball team competed against the Menlo College Oaks on Tuesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. and won 9-1.

The Red Hawks started their momentum in the second inning, when senior Jodie Richards hit a two-run homerun to center field on a 1-0 count sending Noel Montes home as well to make the score 2-0. Scoring at least one run in every inning after the second inning, the Red Hawks quickly pulled away and ended the game early due to the eight-run mercy rule, winning 9-1.

Richards went 2-for-2 from the plate and had four RBIs, and Montes led with three assists. Katelyn Bell received the win with 23 at bats, three strikeouts, and one earned run.

The Red Hawks will rest and prepare for Menlo on Tuesday, April 16 in a double header at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
