Simpson Player of the Week: Paris Hallums

As a freshman pitcher, Paris Hallums has proved herself a force to be reckoned with on the mound for the Simpson University women’s softball team. With power and consistency, Hallums has been able to shut down opponents with her pitching speeds and change ups.
Hallums played two years of varsity softball at Ponderosa High School. She also played basketball. Her athletic accomplishments include all-league and all-city honors and the “Heart of the Team” Award. She was also a member of the Optimist Team and her high school team was the DivisionI1 runner-up and league champions. She played club softball for the Foothill Gold.
Hallums is also ranked nationally in numerous categories. She is ranked 21st in total batters struck out (86), 26th in wins (9), 26th in batters struck out per game (8.2), 31st in saves (1), 41st in opponent batting average (0.202), and 44th in hits allowed per game (5.2).
This past week, Hallums helped Simpson defeat Sierra University 11-2 on Sunday, March 23. She faced 25 batters, had nine strikeouts, and allowed two earned runs.
