Red Hawks win closely-contested doubleheader against Vanguard

COSTA MESA, Calif. - The Simpson University women's softball team traveled to Costa Mesa, Calif., to compete in a doubleheader against Vanguard University on Monday, March 17 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Simpson won game one 5-2 and won game two 1-0.

Game one highlights include Chelsea Dunn’s two RBIs and Kaylana Mah’s three assists. The Red Hawks found themselves behind 2-1 going into the fifth inning, but scoring four runs allowed them to secure the 5-2 win. Carlye Avey received the win, with 27 at bats, three strikeouts and one earned run.

Game two highlights include Kara Wall’s RBI and Dunn’s 2-for-3 performance from the plate. Paris Hallums received the win, with 21 at bats, eight strikeouts, and only two hits allowed.

Simpson will prepare for their doubleheader at Cal State San Marcos at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18.
