Red Hawks fall to rivals

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women's softball team traveled to Rocklin, Calif., to compete against conference rival Williams Jessup University on Thursday, April 24, at 2 p.m. resulting in an 8-7 loss in extra innings.

The Warriors came out strong by scoring the first run in the first inning, but the Red Hawks quickly answered back with five runs in the second inning. After a Simpson lead of 6-5 in the seventh inning, Jessup tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Tied at 7-7 going into extra innings, the Red Hawks would lose 8-7 in the 10th inning.

Kaylana Mah led with a career-high of four RBIs and a homerun in the second inning. Marissa Bravo-Barajas led with 15 putouts. Paris Hallums received the loss with 29 at bats, 14 strikeouts and eight earned runs.

Simpson’s doubleheader that was scheduled for Friday, April 24 was rained out, and the Red Hawks will wait on whether a reschedule of games will occur. If not, they will head to NAIA Nationals on May 12.
