Red Hawks Split Doubleheader with OIT

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s baseball team split a doubleheader against the Oregon Tech Owls at Tiger Field in Redding on March 21.
In the first game, the Red Hawks lost 10-2. James Humphrey started the game on the mound and threw five innings. He took the loss, giving up four runs on five hits, with four strikeouts and three walks. Dylan Mumford went 2-for-4 with a double, and George Cecchetti went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Casey Meyer added a double and RBI in the loss.
Robert Bristol took the mound in the second game and pitched eight strong innings, giving up one earned run on five hits. He also struck out six and walked one. After an 11-inning battle, the score was tied 2-2. With one out in the bottom of the 11th inning, Kurtis Huffman drew a walk and stole second. After a Red Hawk strikeout, Luke Tessman hit a walk-off RBI single, scoring Huffman from second, and ending the game 3-2. Ryan King pitched in the top of the 11th, earning the win. Cecchetti went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI, and Jake Parent went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the win.
Simpson continues its four-game series with OIT on March 22, with the first game of the doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. at Tiger field.
