Red Hawks Open League Play with Doubleheader Loss to UBC

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s baseball team opened its league play with a doubleheader against the University of British Columbia on March 14. The Red Hawks dropped both games, losing the first by a score of 8-4 and the second by a score of 7-1.
James Humphrey got to start for the Red Hawks from the mound in game one. He pitched five innings with seven strikeouts and three walks, giving up three runs. Josh Gilmore pitched three innings, giving up five runs on eight hits and got the loss. Elden Whisman and Casey Meyer recorded doubles in the effort.
In game two, Robert Bristol took a loss, giving up four runs on eight hits, with six strikeouts and one walk.
Simpson continues their four-game series on March 15 against UBC, starting at 11 a.m.
