REDDING, Calif. - In the fall of 2011, freshman Dalton Thacker began attending Simpson University with high hopes for the men’s basketball team. Only a few games into the season during his freshman year, Thacker tore his ACL and was forced to redshirt his freshman year and wait another year to help his team.

In his sophomore season, it was clear that Thacker was the spark the men’s basketball team needed. By his senior season, Thacker had two great seasons under his belt and had come up just short of winning the California Pacific Conference championship his junior year.

On Jan. 17, 2015, the Red Hawks opened conference play against CSU Maritime. This game not only resulted in a victory for Simpson but also for Thacker as an individual. During this game, Thacker scored his 1,000th point of his college career. In only three years Thacker was able to do what many players cannot accomplish in a four-year career.

Heading into the 2014-2015 playoffs, Thacker has 1,156 points, putting him in third all-time in men's basketball program history total career points. Troy Fast (1999-2003) and Markise Morrison (2004-2008) are the only two players ahead of him in total points scored. With playoffs ahead, Thacker has a great chance to add to his already tremendous milestone and continue adding points to a very respectable accomplishment.
