Red Hawks Lose Cal Pac Championship to Keelhaulers in Overtime

VALLEJO, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s basketball team went head-to-head against the Cal Maritime Keelhaulers in the California Pacific Conference playoff championship game on March 2. The Keelhaulers defeated the Red Hawks 85-76 in overtime.
The Keelhaulers made the first basket of the game and set the tempo from the start. They gave Simpson a tough time the first half, but by halftime the Red Hawks were only down by one.
The second half of the game was a nail biter with runs for both teams and two ties. At the end of regulation, the Red Hawks and Keelhaulers were at 71.
In overtime, the Keelhaulers took the lead and did not look back. With the final score 85-76, the Red Hawks could not pull off a win.
Ian Corella battled inside all night, finishing with an impressive 22 points. Shooting 5-for-8 from the three-point line, Anthony Williams hit big shots when the Red Hawks needed it and finished with 19 points. Dalton Thacker also finished in double digits with 15 points.
