REDDING, Calif. - As the Simpson University men’s basketball team took on the Menlo College Oaks on Feb. 14, the atmosphere in the Heritage Student Life Center could be described as nothing less than electric. This game was Homecoming and senior night for the Red Hawks. As the five starters for Simpson took the court for the last time in front of their home crowd, there was a bittersweet feeling shared between the five of them. The Red Hawks did not disappoint their fans and defeated the Oaks 78-59.

The Red Hawks and the Oaks both struggled to get their offense going early. The game was tied 8-8 with 11:50 left in the first and this would be the last time the Oaks were this close to Simpson. The Red Hawks once again fed off their defense and went on a crippling first half run to put the Oaks down by 21 points at half.
