Red Hawks to Host NCCAA DI West Regional Championship Game

REDDING, Calif. - Simpson University’s men’s basketball team will host the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I West Regional championship game on Tuesday, March 10. The Red Hawks will take on the Bethesda University of California Flames at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the NCCAA National Championship, which is being held in Winona Lake, Ind., on March 16-20.
Simpson finished the season with a 17-15 overall record and an 8-2 California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) record. The Red Hawks advanced to the Cal Pac championship tournament, where they lost the championship game to Cal Maritime 85-76 in overtime on March 2.
The Flames finished the season with a 5-23 overall record. They had wins against Menlo College, UC Merced, and West Coast Baptist.
Prior to the start of the playoff game, senior Ian Corella will be honored for making it onto Simpson’s all-time scorers’ list for men’s basketball. Corella is ranked third all-time with 1,355 points. The other players on the list include fifth-ranked Dalton Thacker, fourth-ranked Mariske Morrison (1,307 points), second-ranked Tim Evers (1,790 points) and top-ranked Troy Fast (2,572 points).
