Men's Golf Finishes Third at Warner Pacific Invite, Women Finish Sixth

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Simpson University golf team participated in the Warner Pacific Invite in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 5-6.

The men's golf team finished third out of 12 teams, behind tournament champion Lewis and Clark State College and second place finisher Oregon Tech. The Red Hawks shot 22 over par with a total score of 898.

Senior Barrett McLaughlin finished 10th with a score of 223. Sophomore Lucas Vaughn came in 12th shooting 226, and freshman Kolby Loflin and senior Nick Noorgard tied for 20th with a total score of 228.

On the women's side, the Red Hawks finished sixth out of six teams. Simpson shot a total score of 700. Junior Serina Castillo was the only Red Hawk to finish in the top 10. Castillo came in 10th with a score of 166. Senior Christina Phelps finished 22nd with a total score of 172, and fellow senior Brooke Mejorado finished 25th with a total score of 175.

The Red Hawks return to action at Marymount University on Nov.9-10.
