Red Hawks Lose on the Road to Cal State Stanislaus

TURLOCK, Calif. - The Simpson University men’s soccer team headed south to take on the Warriors from Cal State Stanislaus on Sept. 8. The Warriors were led by Daniel Kuczynski's hat trick in route to a 6-0 victory over the Red Hawks.
In the first half, Kuczynski got the Warrior offense rolling in the 27th minute when his assist freed up Manny Villegas for the opening score of the match. Then the Warriors added three more goals in a six-minute stretch, starting in the 31st minute when Kuczynski netted his first goal of the match followed by Willie Gomez's goal off a Kuczynski assist in the 35th minute. The flurry of goals was capped off in the 37th minute when Kuczynski scored his second goal of the night off an assist from Villegas, sending the teams to the first half break with a 4-0 scoreline. The Warriors outshot the Red Hawks 20-1 in the first half, with Red Hawk goalkeeper Michael Jones making five saves.
In the second half, the Warriors added two more goals on 10 shots, with the first goal coming in the 57th minute from a Rafael Chavez freekick. Kuczynski finished off his hat trick in the 62nd minute off an assist by Danny Valenzuela. Jones added four more saves for the Red Hawks, bringing his match total to nine saves.
The Red Hawks will look to rebound from this loss on their two-game road trip to Oregon. They face Northwest Christian University in Eugene, Ore., at 3 p.m. on Sept. 11 and Corban University in Salem, Ore., at 1 p.m. on Sept. 12.
