Red Hawks Drop Two at Home

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s volleyball team hosted for a doubleheader against Chico State University and William Jessup University on Sept. 7. The Red Hawks dropped both matches, losing 3-0 to Chico State (25-14, 25-20, 25-21) and 3-1 to William Jessup (27-29, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23).

In the first match, the Wildcats from Chico State were led by Izzy Sagely and Shannon Boling's five kills each. McKenna Carroll added 19 assists. Ashley Cervantes led the Red Hawks with a match-high seven kills and 11 assists.

Cervantes added 10 more kills and 23 assists in the second match against the Warriors from William Jessup. Madison Rinehart, StevieLee Jansen and Aimee Belleville each added 11 kills apiece in the losing effort. The Warriors were led by Ellie Selleck’s 14 kills.

The Red Hawks will now start a stretch of six games on the road, starting with a trip to Lancaster, Calif., to take on West Coast Baptist on Sept. 11.
