Red Hawks Lose by One at Home
Simpson University Sports News
REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s basketball team hosted Northwest Indian College on Jan. 11. The Lady Red Hawks dropped a hard-fought game against the Eagles, with a final score of 52-51.
The Red Hawks jumped to a quick 7-0 lead to start the first half, but foul trouble plagued Simpson early. With key players Esther Wofford, Erin Selleck, and Brook Blaisdell in early foul trouble, the Red Hawks struggled to find an offensive rhythm. Simpson shot just 12% from behind the arc in the first half, which gave the Eagles the opportunity they needed to go into half time with a two-point lead.
Wofford's attempt to put the Red Hawks back on top in the second half fell short, and the Eagles pulled off the one-point upset. Wofford led Simpson with 12 points and six rebounds, while Fallon Greenhaw and Blaisdell chipped in eight points each.
The Red Hawks open conference play at home against Cal Maritime on Saturday, Jan. 17.
