Lady Red Hawks Lose at Home to Bobcats

REDDING, Calif. - The Simpson University women’s basketball team hosted the UC Merced Bobcats on Jan. 24. The Lady Red Hawks came up short against the Bobcats, losing 71-53. With three lead changes and one tie throughout 40 minutes of play, Simpson was not able to maintain a lead.
The first half was a close game between the Lady Red Hawks and the visiting Bobcats. Sophomore Esther Wofford, Simpson’s leading scorer with 17 points, was no match for the Bobcats’ leading scorer, Christina Castro, who ended the game with 26 points.
The Lady Red Hawks fell short of a victory and will continue in search of a conference win against Menlo College in Atherton, Calif., at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 29.
